"How to improve myself?"
Someone on S.O.F.T. asked.
The stuff he posted made me think about ... things...
(I swear I paused at that point staring at the screen for a good 2 minutes with my mind blank, not knowing what to write. Must be lack of sleep.)
The guy wishes to improve his playing, he says he has been playing for a year and practising daily, but he "can't seem to do even a simple solo". He went on saying "i could play songs with simple chords in it but i still feel i suck alot...i suck..."
The people there gave him material to refer to, like songs or scales, or even simple advice such as "to play fast, practise slowly." or "try to learn songs by your favourite bands. Also, learn theory."
As I sat down to think about what 'PathethicGuitarist' (his nickname) was going through, I thought "Yes, learning theory does help a lot, so does taking any particular 'run', breaking it down into smaller bits and playing them slowly as practise." I came to the conclusion that the problem was not with what he practised, but instead, how he practised.
My reply went like this:
I think in everything you do, not just for guitar. It is important to be able to visualise yourself doing what you intend to do before you do it.
Say you wanted to play a solo, riff or lick 'x'. Before you play it, you firstly need to be able to imagine yourself being successful at it. If you think 'cannot lah' then your playing will really be 'cannot lah'. Keep yourself calm, sing your music in your head, get into your groove. 'See it, feel it, do it'. (no innuendo intended here boys ^^v)
If you don't enjoy what you're playing, you won't be able to put your heart and soul into your music.
I took away one important thing from the 'Econs Alive' session
this the previous) morning. Though I initially thought it would be a big waste of my time, I was reminded of the phrase/warning/etc: "Don't procrastinate".

After watching

genre 'stance' in music called 'crabcore'.
I won't attempt to elaborate. For details click on this link.

1. Read the description in entirety
2. Watch the video in entirety (I REALLY MEAN IT!)
3. Have fun!! LOADS OF IT!
Thanks Ko Xinyi aka talktothewalls for the good laugh you gave me.
Disclaimer: I'm not dissing the music, I give them props for coming up with stuff like that.

Bunch of pics of new stuf!

First up! New rock band 2 drum kit with the cymbal add-ons. IMNOTINSANEIMNOTINSANE. It's bloody fun really. The quality of the kit also beats the old RB1 set and the GHWT set tenfold. (exaggerated)

This pic's a little late but I guess I'll put it here anyway. It's my new Cort Earth 200 acoustic guitar, grand concert shape. I shall not write a long review about it here though. Really nice thang. Right Bri? =)

No, this guitar isn't mine. I just thought it looked really nice. Did the set up myself last night. Pretty proud of myself lol.
